In West Palm Beach, a Chow Chow mix canine is being featured as Pet of the Week, according to a new report from the TC Palm.
The Chow Chow mix, who is four-years-old and named Lydia, weighs about 45 pounds. She is at the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue
League and the article featuring Lydia is even written from the canine's point of view.
"To keep me beautiful and healthy I need regular grooming, especially in our hot Florida sun! Occasionally I may have something I want to tell you and will express it vocally. Therefore, I am Diva-like and may be a little demanding. ...In true Diva fashion, I want to be the only one to receive your attention," writes Lydia, whom animal rescue workers feel should be in a home with only adults.
There are more than 77 million household dogs in America, according to the Humane Society. Adopting a pet is one of the best ways to contribute to helping animal rescue shelters with their overpopulation problems. If a family is looking to bring a new pet into their home, experts encourage adoption over buying a companion from a store.
